In the time between the Bike and Blade (end May 2006) and early August when I went to Bali quite a few things transpired. I had the opportunity to rest a bit in early June and start riding Mount Faber in preparation for riding Fraser Hill with the Chief and the Queen but in early July my cycling world fell apart when I went out for a Sunday ride around Bukit Timah but fell down and cut open the back of my thigh quite badly. The injury itself was not very serious as the doctor said that skin is actually about 1/2 cm deep. But the cut started to get infected after about a week and the doctor asked me to stop sweating completely. This meant that I could not ride at all.

As I recovered from the cut, a flu started and I was off the bike for 1 more week. Then I stupidly signed up for the Tribob ride to Bali and rode all the monstrous hills while I was still sick. I used to feel cold in the evenings after the rides but did not realize until much later that I was having fevers in the evenings after the rides! At least I am still OK but I will never ever attempt anything as stupid as that again.

Anyway the rides in Bali were quite challenging and the people and the local crew were very nice.
